Do NBA players try harder in the playoffs?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Bradford Doolittle @ 6:43 pm

The folks at Slate wanted to know, so I tried to find empirical evidence as to whether this is true. Tough assignment. First off, I was wary of the question. On one hand, of course NBA players try harder in the playoffs. It sure seems that way, anyhow. On the other hand, I don’t necessarily think this is any more true for the NBA than it is for any of the other sports. However, when I did this piece, I started with the assumption that there is such and effect and set out to quantify it. Click over to see how I did.

I’d love any ideas or feedback on the topic. You can also comment on the article over at Slate.
