On the day the NBA labor dispute was thrown into the laps of a bunch of anonymous lawyers, we reached the symbolic milestone of 100 games missed from the original schedule. That of course also represents the number of games we've simmed to date. Looking at the standings and the number of games each team has played, you really get a sense of how much missed basketball has piled up.
Unless a miracle occurs in the next couple of days before the NBAPA files its disclaimer paperwork, it doesn't look like we're going to have real NBA basketball this season. Certainloy not any time soon. As much fun as Sim Season has been, that's still a real bummer. Perhaps as a product of karma, last night's results featured five blowout games. A down night for the league, a down night for Sim Season. But you know what? Five blowout games are better than no games at all. Plus, Kevin Durant went off, which is always worth watching no matter what the score may be.
Through last night, we've played the 100 games the NBA hasn't as part of Sim Season, our Strat-O-Matic simulation of the locked out 2011-12 season. We'll be doing this every day, so check back tomorrow for the results of tonight's action. You can follow me on Twitter for periodic updates on the action. Watch for the #simseason hashtag.
REMINDER: Strat-O-Matic veterans already know this, but the newest version of SOM's Computer Basketball Game (Version 9.0) was recently released. THUNDER 108, BOBCATS 80: The Thunder was looking for a third straight win but was going against the surprising 3-2 Bobcats. Charlotte's Stephen Jacksonless offense has so far proven to be much more efficient over last season. The Bobcats' defense, however, has been a sieve. You can't have everything. The Bobcats survived Kevin Durant's 16-point onslaught in the first quarter, tying the game on Tyrus Thomas' free throw midway through the second. From that point, Durant heated up again, scoring 14 points over the last 5:32 of the half. His three-pointer at the gun gave OKC a 12-point halftime lead. A 10-point Thunder run early in the third pushed the score into blowout territory and that's where it stayed. The only drama left concerned Durant's final points tally. The answer? A league season-high 54, on 20-of-30 shooting from the floor.

GRIZZLIES 112, KINGS 88: The Kings have been simply awful, dropping six of their first seven. Sacramento's only win came against the Lakers. Sometimes, things just make no sense. The Grizzlies entered with a three-game winning streak and welcomed Zach Randolph back to the lineup. It was Tony Allen that got Memphis off to the fast start. The defense-first guard scored 17 points in the first, helping the Grizzlies establish an eight-point lead at the half. Randolph scored 10 in the third as Memphis kept Sacramento at arm's length and won its fourth straight. Randolph had a game-high 26 points and 13 rebounds in his return.

MAVERICKS 117, WARRIORS 92: The champion Mavericks came in with a .500 record after a home loss to Memphis snapped a three-game streak. Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki entered the game as the NBA's leading scorer. The Warriors were again playing without injured point guard Stephen Curry, though rookie Charles Jenkins has shined in his absence. Nowitzki and Jose Barea led the way as Dallas jumped out to a fast start and never looked back. Nowitzki scored a game-high 34 points and Barea added 20. Jenkins got the start for Golden State. He filled up the box score with seven points, seven rebounds, and six assists but shot just 3-of-9 from the field.

JAZZ 115, KNICKS 98: The Knicks had won three in a row against a soft schedule, while the struggling Jazz were trying to snap a six-game losing streak. After New York led early, Devin Harris and Al Jefferson keyed a 21-5 burst that gave Utah a 44-point first quarter and a 21-point advantage. The Knicks chipped away at the lead at various times but never could get closer than seven points. New York committed 21 turnovers to aid Utah's cause. Jefferson scored 30 and Harris added 29 for the Jazz. The Knicks got 22 points and eight rebounds from Landry Fields.

TRAIL BLAZERS 105, 76ERS 84: Portland was looking to win back-to-back games for the first time this season as the Blazers try to survive the league's toughest early schedule. The Sixers, meanwhile, seem to be perpetually stuck at the .500 level. It was all Portland early, as Nicholas Batum, Ray Felton and Wesley Matthews spread the wealth during the Blazers' 23-8 opening burst. Portland maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way, save for one possession late in the third quarter. The Blazers dominated the glass, in part because of a nice performance from Greg Oden off the bench: 8 points, 10 rebounds in 26 minutes.

GLOSSARY
+/- (Plus-Minus) Raw data is from official box scores from NBA.com.
GR (Game Rating) Reflects a player's Points Created total, or the portion of his team's offense for which he gets credit based on his box score line. This number is then adjusted for estimated defensive performance based on box score counterpart productivity. GR is pace-adjusted so you can compare players from game to game.
PCP (Points Created Per Possession Used) An estimate of each player's points created per possession used, a measure of offensive efficiency. The stat accounts for a player's entire box score line, not just the scoring categories.
PLY% (Play percentage) An estimate of the percentage of a team's possessions on which the player was on the court.
USG An estimate of how many of those plays a player used by shooting, going to the line or committing a turnover, with a portion the team's offensive rebound total subtracted.
TEAM STATS
PACE: Estimated possessions in the game.
ORTG: A team's points per 100 possessions.
eFG%: Team's shooting percentage with an extra half-point added for each made three-point field goal.
oRB%: Percentage of a team's misses that they retrieved off the offensive glass.
TO%: Percentage of a team's possessions resulting in a turnover.
FTA%: Percentage of a team's possessions resulting in a trip to the foul line.
