Ohio State stays atop The List for the second week in a row as the
Buckeyes beat Iowa and Illinois last week to stay perfect at 20-0.
They face a major test Tuesday night when No. 10 Purdue (17-3) visits
Columbus.
Joining Ohio State in the top five are Pittsburgh (19-1), Duke (18-1),
Kansas (18-1) and Brigham Young (19-1), which has a showdown on
Wednesday night when it hosts No. 6 San Diego State (20-0).
Texas makes the biggest jump this week, moving up seven spots to No. 7
following victories over a pair of ranked teams in Texas A&M and
Kansas. The biggest fallers are No. 19 West Virginia and No. 20 Saint
Mary's, down seven places each. West Virginia lost to Marshall and
Saint Mary's was beaten by Vanderbilt. Missouri, Cincinnati and
Illinois join The List while Michigan State, Nevada-Las Vegas and
Louisville drop off.
Unlike The Associated Press' media poll and USA Today/ESPN's coaches
(i.e. sports information directors) poll, we take into account
subjective data to present our weekly Top 25, a cross section of Ken
Pomeroy's Pomeroy Ratings at kenpom.com, the Jeff Sagarin ratings for USA Today at
usatoday.com, Team Rankings at teamrankings.com, Kyle Whelliston's State of Basketball rankings at
basketballstate.com and the Ratings Percentage Index, more commonly
known as the RPI, which can be found at various sources. We also
project the 68 teams most deserving of being in the NCAA
